Theatre Arts Badge encompassing improvisational theatre, playwriting and puppetry. Performance topics would include accepting differences, issues of bullying and being proud to be yourself.

Thank you for the support Nicole. I should have them ready by age group by June and will present them then, complete with activities and resource links and materials. I ma looking forward to seeing the development of the other badges mentioned so we can get them designed and structured so the children can start earning them.

I would like to propose a Badge for Volunteer and Community Service work. One that they can work on throughout an entire year. I can set it up by age appropriate groups. I would like to call it the Mother Earth Hearts and Hands Award. This is to help the children develop a skill set that develops a sense of fulfillment when you volunteer in service to your family, friends, and community. It will give them active skill sets to strengthen their community through volunteer activities and education. It will help strengthen family participation encouraging families to become active in community service. This badge can help teach a child that we all are responsible to our communities and that one person can make a difference. It will teach the benefits of being In Service to community by seeing a need greater than your own that needs their help. It can help teach tolerance-Working in community service can bring kids and teens in touch with people of different backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, ages, and education and income levels. They'll learn that even the most diverse individuals can be united by common values. Community service and volunteerism develops punctuality and job training skill sets helping a child or teen think about a future career. It will use their idle time wisely and help them to be creative and imaginative as they help plan activities. They can learn that volunteering and assisting in Community Service is Fun! It is fun to connect and share. It will enhance their intellectual, emotional, and physical skill sets enabling them to help strengthen themselves, their families, their communities and their World. Reaching out from their Hearts with their Hands to Help Mother Earth!

I propose to start a badge called R.A.D. it is for accomplishments on the tools of Self Responsibility, Self Accountability and Self Discipline. These skills are used to support Problem solving skills in Conflict Resolution, Peer Relationships, Communication Skills,Critical Thinking and Ethical Reasoning Skills. All of these tool sets are applicable to the Earth Scouts principles of:

Respect for nature, universal human rights, economic fairness and corporate responsibility, participatory democracy as well as a culture of peace and nonviolence.

These activities can be easily setup by age group and include activities to cover the principles mentioned above. It gives our children the base of their own pyramidal system to develop skillsets to become responsible global citizens empowered with the ability to make a difference in their local communities and throughout the world.

It's Cool to be R.A.D.!

Great Idea Kerry and Kevin! Navigation especially when lost is good to know. It will prepare kids for the unexpected and keep them from getting too upset when they are lost.

Good idea, Kerry. You could call it the Land Navigation Badge.

And, in addition, have a Water Navigation Badge earned under certain conditions (have the scout learn sailing terms, operate a canoe/kayak for a certain distance, learn how to use a map, etc.) ...

I am scheduling a GPS/Compass (sorry, I spent 13 years in the Military and found tht when you are lost in the woods, they both come in handy) activity for my kids this summer. It will involve hiking and getting from point A to point B using the GPS. We will be going to Green Ridge State Forest in MD. What about a Hiking/GPS/Compass Badge? We can come up with another name for it of course....
