Hello Everyone, I have been looking through this site for several days. It is great to see what is going on and all the things you all have been doing. Reading the Earth Scout Guide reminded me of my childhood. We were a camping and backpacking family. I learned to respect nature, to pack it in/pack it out and to bring anything we found that someone else had left behind. I passed those things on to my children with clean up the sacred spot forays. I now have grandchildren who will be able to benefit at a whole new level. I can't wait to invite them. It is exciting and I am so glad that I get to help. Please contact me if I can help you with anything, Deborah

Ok, I'm a little overwhelmed.  How do I go about starting up a chapter/group? :)

Hi Deborah, I stumbled across the name of a member (Cindy Daigle) who lives fairly close and sent her a wondering if there is a way to sort members on "place of residence" within the membership database to facilitate neighbors getting together to collaborate on starting a community chapter?

Nice to meet you. I'm joining primarily to see if any Earth Scout opportunities exist for homeschoolers in my area.

I have a question for you. My work place is interested in "sponsoring" my Earth Scouts Troop that I started: The Rainbow Tribe Earth Scouts. I wanted to know in order for them to do this, what would we need to do. They are interested in holding a fund raiser and I just wanted to know how this would would my Troop keep the money, send it to the organization, etc. I have things that I would love to do with the kids that would potentially cost a little. Most of my parents are stretching things thin as it is and this money would really help us accomplish our goals.

Hi Deborah,

I'm the grandmother of a Coachella Earthscout, so cheering from afar.  I am part of the Transition Town movement here in Central CA, and I'm also a Facilitator for the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium on behalf of the Pachamama Alliance who began the 4YG campaign, so we're all connected.

Thanks for the offer of help.  I am not planning on starting an Earth Scouts group here in my co-housing but someone else might.

I wish you all well with this great movement,

Thanks for the welcome! I'm hoping to find a group here in Southern Maine for my little people, so fingers crossed!

I used to live in southcentral Oregon - Lakeview - so it seems at one point we might not have been too far from one another. Beautiful part of the world... it was unfortunate I had to leave.

anyway, I forgot to mention any of my energy here with the local Earth Scouts group is yet another try to get my kids (ages almost 12, 9 and 18 months) outside as often as possible.

Hi Deborah. Thanks for the friend request. I'm looking forward to finding out what Earth Scouts is all about. I'm in far western Maryland. Allegany and Garrett counties (MD's two westernmost counties) have, combined, about 150,000 acres of state-owned parks and forests. Plenty of room to roam.
